The weekly show airs on YouTube and RSS covering everything from open source software and network infrastructure to penetration testing. Hak5 is complimented by sister shows HakTip, ThreatWire, Metasploit Minute and TekThing.

Open Positions

Video Editor – Hak5 LLC – Richmond, CA (and/or) Remote

Hak5, LLC is seeking a Video Editor for hire on a per project contractual basis to join the team remotely and/or locally. The ideal candidate would possess strong working technical knowledge of either Mac or PC and advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software including but not limited to Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Adobe Photoshop. This video editor must show initiative and independence in carrying out responsibilities in a timely fashion and be able to have a quick turn around time for video edits. Advanced knowledge of motion graphics and animation skills are a plus. Experience with editing, encoding and rendering from Premiere Pro and Photoshop templates are required. This individual will focus primarily on editing weekly Hak5 LLC video podcasts, including but not limited to Hak5, HakTip, ThreatWire, and any other necessary videos produced by the studio team. Videos typically range between 6 minutes to 20 minutes depending on show and content.

The Video Editor will be in charge of receiving video files and assets from the studio team, editing videos within the Premiere Pro template guidelines, rendering, encoding, and final proofing videos before upload to Hak5 show channels. All videos will be approved by a Hak5 staff member before publicized. The Video Editor will also be in charge of receiving photography files or sourcing images for thumbnails and the creation of thumbnails for publication.

Having an interest or working knowledge of the skills of information security, penetration testing, and consumer technology are a plus, as these will help the Video Editor in streamlining their editing process.

Job Type: Freelancer per project, to be paid per completed video project


  • Be a US Citizen or possess a valid US work visa
  • Have a reliable high-speed internet connection for uploading and downloading video files of about 10GB per video file
  • Strong English language skills
  • Be good at following instructions and self management
  • Have excellent grammar and spelling skills
  • Have excellent time-management skills

Required Education: High School Diploma or higher

Required Experience: Professionally Video Editing for 1 year. Adobe Creative Suite Software for 2 years.
