19:47 Use Mobile For Backup Internet!
Keith writes, In the most recent show someone was looking for a backup network for their regular network that has “issues”. Cradlepoint’s MBR1200B has automatic failover between the “normal” internet connection and a cellular internet connection providing a higher level of availability.” Thanks, Keith! Michael has another easy way to default to a mobile connection if your main ISP goes down, “I enabled the hotspot on my phone and then used a TP-LINK TL-MR3020 3G/4G Wireless N150 Portable Router.” Thanks, Michael, and watch the show to find out how it’s set up!
21:37 Back Up Terabytes Online Cheap!
Donny says “There are a few options that won’t break the bank. The one I personally use is the Amazon cloud drive unlimited for $59/year. It is actually 100TB usable. They also have it for $5/year usually on black Friday.” More info in the video. Thanks, Danny!
23:17 No Headphone Jack, No Glucose Monitor or Square Reader?!?
Stan makes a REALLY good point, “What bugs me is all the talk about music and headphones. I only use Bluetooth BUT what about credit card readers like Smart, PayPal, Coin and others. Or medical devices like the one I use everyday to read my blood glucose. It only works with the headphone jack.”
24:48 No Headphone Jack Means More DRM???
Tom writes, “I think this is a terrible idea. There’s no reason to remove it, as it serves it’s purpose quite nicely. One think you didn’t mention was how the new method will open the door to DRM on audio files.” We’re not so sure it means music DRM as much as it means more MFi revenue for Apple!
27:07 Do Something Analog!
And remember … once in awhile… put down the phone, step away from the screen, close the laptop… and do something analog, like Nik, and get your GPS tracking on for running. Here are some links to help improve Android GPS accuracy from AndroidPit and Backpacker!
