Commands I used on this episode include:

echo $PS1

original_backup=”$PS1″

PS1=

PS1=”\$”

PS1=”\[\033[0;35m\]\u@\h:\w$ ”

PS1=”\[\033[1;35m\]\u@\[\033[1;36m\]\h:\[\033[1;32m\]\w\[\033[1;37m\]$ ”

End the line with \[\033[0m\] to make it a black background again

Save your new lines to the bashrc file as: PS1=”\[\033[1;35m\]\u@\[\033[1;36m\]\h:\[\033[1;32m\]\w\[\033[1;37m\]$ ”

export PS1
