    What’s wrong with a simple href link to download the xvid file? That Divx download site is too fancy for its own good.

    sounds kinda related, and it’s on Linux … why It’s a fork I’ll be damned no way you could have guessed that :)

    Basically firefox isn’t too opensource anymore for the hardcore people, and rather than flaming in fora/comment sections of blog posts they just forked it. And now time will solve the problem.
