Put em in a head lock.

I would ask for a refund and then make a Unfriendly filefarmer sketch. I'm pretty sure you could come up with on of those pretty fast.

Anyway I WANT TO FORUMS BACK UP. Death to FileFarmer

Far as I'm concerned this filefarmer business can't be much of a business if they can't resolve it by now and it shows when they are using an email address of filefarmer@gmail.com. Geez if they are a decent business you would think they would have something like filefarmer@filefarmer.com. I hope the forums are back up soon I want the show notes :-).

FileFarmer?! Those guys suck! They had a free hosting service, but that service soon deteriorated until it became unusable. Soon after, their pay customers started complaining about being unable to login to accounts, and they never gave a response! Their ftp was a joke, and reliability was shakey. I think they took on more customers than they could handle.

I don't know what kind of bandwidth requirements you have, but Dreamhost offers 1TB to 2.2TB/month for very reasonable prices. I have been using them for a while (hosting 4 seperate sites on the "Code Monster" plan), and their reliability and customer service have been awesome. Of course, I don't offer ipTV shows for download, so maybe you should talk to them about your bandwidth requirements (I know they are quick to disable sites that get dugg or /.ed).

Perhaps some root told it to listen on a diffrent port? Just a guess based on that the connection just times out, it's not refused or any thing like that. Since your host says the server has a green light, I guess the "green light deamon" just checks to see if apache is running and doesn't check on what apache is actualy doing. Just a guess, and probably a wrong guess, but it's still a posability ^^

The internet is quiet with out the hak.5 forums...

Can't you just use the Dreamhost SQL you were using before? Or make a backup of the MySQL you are using now?

Darren,

Hang in there. I'm sorry things aren't working out right now.

I'd like to second Jeff's comment about hosting the show notes somewhere on the main site. You could certainly link to a discussion thread in the forums from them, if you wanted to - but it'd be nice to have them on hand without going to the forum. Just a thought.

Looking forward to episode 8!
