Episode 4 – Production Notes 4
The editing marathon continues. With only a small bit left to shoot and almost everything edited we’re very close to having ep4 in the can. Once it’s all chopped up and ready to go I’ll get to play the fun game of encoding. Joy. I’ll try to get an ipod video version out, which I believe is simply a 320×240 h.264 .mov or mpeg4 .m4v. If you’ve got a tutorial handy send me a link, I’ve got Quicktime 7 pro but wasn’t happy with the quality of the h.264 we released for ep3.
More good news: I’ve got the RSS feeds straightened out. I’ll have links on the left for each video codec/download format feed in the next few days. I’ll be moving our torrent tracker to another server in the coming days which will allow us to enable server side sharing, thus providing faster and more reliable downloads. I’ll keep the existing tracker up for those of you still seeding/downloading but the RSS feeds will point to the new tracker.

H.264 is still flaky with the iPod. Hopefully they will have a firmware fix sometime soon. I would recommend using the export feature in Quicktime Pro and selecting the highest Mpeg4 output possible. There is also a free converter put out by Videora that will convert most common formats to iPod compatible Mpeg4.
Cheers, looking forward to ep4. Keep up the good work. Stay sane.
I like the Videora and there latest version “.9″ does do good H.264 which looks better and is a good bit smaller than the equivalent mpeg4.
love the show! keep it up!

Thanks for the suggestions! I picked up the latest Videora iPod Converter and in just an hour was able to transcode an uncompressed AVI of episode 3 into an MP4 file.
However, the file came out to be just 30MB instead of the predicted 193MB using the MPEG-4/320×240/512kbps Stereo/96kbps profile.
I’m sure I’ll find a fix somewhere but if you know it off the top of your head drop me a line.
Beer drinking tech show?
Very lame.
Try your own identity, smoke a spliff, I dont care but dont try to imitate someone else. youre the only ones who really have identity of your own, why copy?
Which one of you will be mentioning his girlfriend?
Not a beer drinking tech show. The beer is in one segment to illustrate something. Watch on the 5th, you’ll be surprised.
Well was going to mention videora but you already on the right track, and I argee have your own Identity and per your reply it seems like you agree.
Keep up the great work, I you the podcast I have withdrawal from the most. Hope you guys can find some income stream so you can do it weekly or even more.
Keep up the great work!

woops sorry about the poor english, I got interupted and forgot to proof read before I sent it off
i hate quicktime 7 pro because the output of the video is not really h.264 its really a low mp4. i was mad to when i found that out because i was hoping that the h.264 would be better but i know not to trust quicktime anymore.
What Jsanchez you trused quicktime? Don’t you know that apple is not to be trusted. Do you also trust microsoft and other companies?
Only opensource can be trusted, because developers not related to such projects can verify there is nothing funky in the sourcecode.
