HakShop open for beta testing….err…purchases
As you all know I’ve been struggling with a few e-commerce platforms. Eventually I settled on the Shopp plugin for Wordpress. I really like how simple the system is. It’s just what I need (inventory management, weight rate shipping) and not what I don’t. Once I got past the first bug or two I really warmed up to it.
A big thanks to everyone who has offered their help setting this up and making recommendations. I still have zen-cart and oscommerce in the back of my mind if this doesn’t work out — but for now I’m giving this a go.
I’ve spent a few days getting intimately familiar with the code and hacking together the templates. I really like how well it integrates with the site. It’s not finished by any stretch of the imagination but I believe the core functionality is there.
I’m looking for feedback on the store. If you can offer any comments on usability, features, or otherwise please sound off in the comments. I’ll be continuing to add new stuff (user gallery, specifications, more products) as time goes on.
If all goes well over the next few days I’ll be sure to make a much better announcement for our grand opening. In the mean time, consider the HakShop open for beta testing.

Congrats and hope it works well!
My order went through no problems, it worked like a charm
Anyone brute force it yet?
Looks nice, so now when are the forums and the wiki going to be ported into the new theme?
As soon as my busy schedule opens up a bit. I really enjoy web dev, I just wish I had more time for it.
can we make stock requests ?
@[3w`Sparky] of course!
If there’s interest, maybe Darren will want to offer the PHP book given away with the code challenge as part of the shop. If there is interest at all, no sense in complicating things if nobody would want a copy if part of the proceeds went to Hak5.
Darren,
Great job with the beta HakShop.
I am from the UK and its generally cold so my stock suggestion would be a hoodie like you had earlier in season 5

hi guys. just watched your show for the first time. great stuff. i too have strugged with finding the right shop for a while. since you have some sweet graphics and don`t want to be bogged down with merch why not use an on-demand shop like cafepress.com or .ca or zazzle.com cafepress is cool get your gear on lots including mugs and panties! zazzle is very good as well and hass auto feed to google base some in your face watermarks.
Hey guys, love the show! I do have a question. I sent you money for a sticker in paypal and I never received the stickers. Is there another place I should send an email to? Thanks gys, keep up the good works.
I was in Williamsburg on business two weeks ago. If that ever occurs again would it be possible to pay first and pick up the merchandise (Pineapple) in Williamsburg or anywhere you feel comfortable? I can rely on my neighbor to borrow the mower for his yard but he’ll let stuff sit on my porch for days – “don’t worry I let the dog out and nobody goes near the house when you’re gone”… gee thanks. Anyway, just curious to see if a local pickup is available.
Jeff, that shouldn’t be a problem. Order like normal thru the store and leave a note in your order that you’d like to pick it up. You can email any of us at feedback@hak5.org and we can figure out a location.
Ern,
Email darren@hak5.org and he’ll take care of you!
ust a little post regarding the most recent episode of Hak5.
I went into showing users how easy it really is to setup a VOIP provider so that you can easily make and receive phone calls to and from external numbers.hyperion training
I chose to use Teliax, which in my opinion is a great option if you’re looking for a provider as they have some really attractive pricing especially the pay as you go plan.
The nice thing about that plan is you can have 10 simultaneous calls going, and so long as your 3CX license provides, there’s no extra setup. It will just deduct you based on how many minutes each of the callers is using.
There have also been a couple of questions that have popped up both here on my blog and in email. Check out those after the break.
