Stage6, a high quality streaming video platform and social network, died on February 28, 2008. It was in beta and lived in San Diego, CA.
The cause was funding, employee Tom, aka Spinner said.
Born in 2006 by parent DivX, Inc. Stage6 spent most of its life differentiating itself from similar video sharing sites like YouTube. Stage6 accepted DivX or Xvid files up to 1080p, equivalent to BluRay.

After nearly 40 hours of published content we finally boarded the failbus. In the rush to setup the show was recorded without audio. So in the spirit of Hak5 live the editor got drunk and subtitled nearly 4 minutes of the episode in lolspeak. If you’re not a fan of ICHC you probably won’t find this funny. Shmoocon rocked! The con was well organized, entertaining and often brainborkingly insightful. We were fortunate enough to interview some amazing hackers for the show this year too. I was going to post some spiel warning you that this episode is another infamous Hak5Live train wreck but then I realized, thats what Hak5Live IS. And once I got over that I realized that for what it is the show is really enjoyable. So aside from a couple of hiccups and uncensored f-bombs I give you Hak5Live009 in its raw and uncut glory.

Moonlit and Famicoman have started a collaborative effort to archive and catalog the increasingly hard to find episodes of defunct IPTV shows. Join the preservation effort or browse the catalog thus far. This stuff is way too awesome to let erode on the net.
